Anita Bryant: The Queen Of "Christian" Kookery

During the mid to late 70's, gospel singer Anita Bryant was in Florida, promoting orange juice and homophobia. Her "save our children" crusade blamed gay men for the criminal activities of pedophiles, and her message (even though it was proven as wrong) continues to be barked by nazi closeted homosexuals and charlatans disguised as "christians", to this very day.

It's not surprising that dead-glutton/now-in-hell Jerry Falwell was also behind Bryant's "christian" mission. That filthy pig had to pay off his gigantic tab from Pizza Hut somehow, right?

An interesting older blog post at "The World Of Tish" which I recently ran across is a funny personal story from 1977, referencing Miss Bryant's campaign, and her own repeating the word "homosexuals" in school:

"In 1977, Anita Bryant ruined my life - at least third grade. Every night, it seemed, Anita was on television condemning homosexuality. Since this was before the "V" chip, you could be minding your own business, eating your grill cheese sandwich and slurping tomato soup, and be inundated with the word 'homosexual'. Being eight years old, I didn't even know what heterosexuals were, but after listening to Anita's rants about men with men, I understood the basic concept. Funny, I don't remember lesbians being discussed, but then I was probably playing with my Junior Detective Kit....."

Anita Bryant flashback: gay activists throw a pie in Anita's face while she's discussing "doing away with the homosexuals".

Of course if that were me, the pie would have been filled with battery acid, not "fruit", as she jokes. But that's just me - if somebody's using Hitler nazi-speak in reference towards myself, then I won't be very polite to them either. If you talk about me as a human being like I'm disposable or something (over a fucked-up fairy tale book, at that), you can be shown you're just as disposable too:

Yes Anita, let's pray.....over your worn-out copy of Mein Kampf!
