LP 2: Edna Wright "Oops! Here I Go Again"

A few months ago, I reviewed the 2-CD set by Honey Cone (Soulful Sugar); now here's the classic (and ONLY) solo LP by Honey Cone's lead singer, Edna Wright - entitled "Oops! Here I Go Again".

The RCA solo album (produced by her husband, Greg Perry) is really a forgotten gem from 1976, featuring a couple funk tunes, and some nice ballads as well. There's not much information available out there on this LP, but it's worth picking up, for those of you out there into classic and retro soul/R&B.

Obviously her solo effort didn't go anywhere (including a failed Honey Cone reunion in the 90's), but Wright has continued to provide backup vocals for several groups and artists over the years.

Here's a couple cuts from this rare LP, for your enjoyment:

"You Can't See The Forest (For The Trees)":

"Come On Down (Get Your Head Out Of The Clouds)":

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the compliment!

Some Motown friends introduced me to Honey Cone a few years ago, and I've been hooked on the Hot Wax/H-D-H/Invictus sound ever since.

It's unfortunate there's not much solo material out there of the Honey Cone girls. I believe even Sharon Cash (Edna Wright's brief Honey Cone replacement) only has 2 solo LP's herself.

Good to see another fan of Edna Wright out there! If you check out my YouTube channel, I have "If The Price Is Right" from this LP currently available as audio-on-video. I'm considering adding more cuts from the LP, if not the entire album LOL I'd buy the CD if it will ever be reissued!

What's Up...I recently heard a track for Edna Wright and have been searching for the track since then. I cam across your blog and almost past out. I was wondering if you could repost the tracks and maybe email me the album. If not the album can you please send a track of the album called Spend The Night Wih Me
